There are a few different types of s14 exhaust systems. There is your cat-back exhaust, and also you have your turbo-back exhaust. The difference between the two are fairly distinctive, and you should really consider reading through this before deciding which to buy for your car.
Cat Back systems usually run a larger diameter exhaust pipe then the stock pipe that came on your stock s14 exhaust system. To reduce the back pressure these systems usually have mandrel-bent turn to allow the exhaust gas to exit with less restriction. That is just a little information about the two systems. Â In reference to buying one of the two, if you have a turbo in your s14 then you should go with the turbo back exhaust. But if you don't have a turbocharger then you should choose the cat back system. If you choose the turbo back exhaust and you don't have a turbo charger you are actually hurting your cars performance.

im looking to buy a fast compact 2-4 door car that i could add aftermarket parts to to make it a street tuner?
I want a fast reliable car that wont allways break down and be in the grage all the time.I would like a car newer then 2000 and I dont want to pay any thing over $20,000 for it stock.I want a car that drives and handels like a dream but has the hp and the over all make up to become a really good tuner car with some modifications and some aftermarket parts I want to do all the work my self.I just want something to start with i all ready know what i dont want a chevy,dodge,ford,honda civic,Mitsubishi Eclipse,so could some one plzz help me and tell me why u think that car is a good car
It's unfortunate that you've ruled out all those cars alreaady - a Honda Civic is a great choice for what you want to do. Aftermarket parts are readily available and it drives and handles well - isn't hard on fuel, even with mods.
If you can find a Subaru WRX those are pretty hot. But, buying one used you're likely getting into someone else's mods or hard driving.
