Introduced in 1999 as a 2000 model in North America, the Ford Focus was the car to replace both the Ford Escort and Mercury Tracer as the new compact performance vehicle designed more towards the European style of performance compacts. Not only was the Focus known for performance, but a vehicle that could deliver respectable performance and horsepower and still provide conservative fuel management at a very reasonable price.

Originally offered in both a three (3) and five (5) door hatchback, the ZX3 and ZX5. Or you could purchase a four (4) door sedan, the SE, LX, and ZTS. It would later be changed to the ZX4 in 2005. These Focus models were available from 2000 to 2007 along with another five (5) door Focus station wagon called the ZXW released in 2002 and the performance SVT in 2001. Since 2008, the Focus has dropped the station wagon and hatchback versions from production entirely leaving your options of either a 2 door coupe or a 4 door sedan.

After releasing the Focus SVT model in 2001 as a 2002 model, performance for the Focus was at an all time high. Equipped with a reworked performance version of the 2.0L Zetec, 16 valve, DOHC engine increasing performance in the Focus from an already astonishing 130hp to a very impressive 170hp while still achieving low emissions and very decent fuel mileage. The Focus SVT was offered in a four (4) door and later in a three (3) door and five (5) door hatchback for both 2003 and 2004. Unfortunately, production of the Focus SVT was put to a halt in 2004. Focus SVT's are still very sought after vehicles today due to their performance, fuel consumption and maintainability.

Low gas consumption and great performance weren't the only reason the Ford Focus was given the "Best Buy Rating" award from Consumers Digest. This award is based upon several factors including, but not limited to, reliability, fuel economy, performance, recall history, cost and other characteristics to help provide the consumer with an overall grand picture of the best vehicle to spend their money on. The Focus did better in all categories as a total than all other compact performance cars in its class. The Focus has also won over sixty (60) awards including thirteen (13) "Car of the Year" awards. "Car and Driver" put the Focus on their "Ten Best" list for five (5) consecutive years from 2000 - 2004.

The Focus also offered a performance 2.3L Duratec engine producing up to 151 horsepower. Focus also came with a variety of transmissions including a 4-speed 4F27E automatic, a 5-speed MTX-75 manual, and a high performance 6-speed Getrag manual. Thanks to the performance Focus is known for, many performance parts, upgrades and accessories have been manufactured for the Focus. Everyday, new products are popping up such as racing style brakes and tires, suspension parts, and performance exhausts, headers, mufflers, turbos and superchargers. Flash tuners and ECU chips are both very popular with the Focus enthusiasts.

01 Ford F150

The 2001 Ford F150 is one of the most fairly priced and capable trucks of the'01 model year. They are offered in 3 different cabin styles and multiple trim packages. These full size pickups offer superb ride comfort and quality and their own real competitors are the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra. With plenty of customization options and features consumers have a lot to choose from with the F150 half ton pickup. The overall quality of engineering has made owning one of these vehicles a rewarding experience, saving owners money on costly maintenance over the years.

The trim packages available include the XL, XLT, Fx4, Sport, and SVT lightning. XL models are simple work trucks that don't come with a lot of additional features. Most of these models lack standard power accessories and AC, but retain the overall workhorse capabilities provided by the frame and engines under the hoods. Stepping up in comfort and price is the XLT package which offers most power accessories, AC, CD players, better interior fabrics, cruise control, adjustable power driver seats, along with other features.

The Fx4 has a raised body which is supported by a sturdier suspension system meant for less rolling while in off-road situations. Also available is the SVT lightning package which is a high-performance truck equipped with two wheel drive and a supercharged version of the 5.4 liter V8.

Cabin styles include the regular 2 door cab, an extended cab with 4 doors with the rear ones opening only if the front ones are, and a 4 independent door super cab. A larger rear seat is now available for super cab models giving better ride quality and comfort for passengers.

All of the engines offered for the 2001 Ford F150 are the 4.2 liter V6, 4.6 liter V8, and the 5.4 liter. Most basic models that only have two wheel drive are equipped with the smaller V6 engine. In moderate duty situations where heaving hauling isn't required consumers should find the V6 an adequate engine. For other situations however that require maximum hauling and towing, one of the V8 engines will definitely be necessary.

Fuel economy is fairly decent as well for these trucks, ranging from 14 mpg city to 22 mpg highway. The smaller 4.2 liter V6 engine gets the best gas mileage, while the larger 5.4 gets the worst. These numbers are nearly spot on with similar GM pickup truck models for the same year. Safety is also a place where the 2001 Ford F150 does well, garnering nearly perfect scores in most crash tests.

Overall it must be said that the F150 is one of the most comfortable and powerful trucks on the market for the '01 season. With a great assortment of different body styles, trim packages, and power trains there is just about a model for everybody.

Its not what I wanna do but....?

I currently own a 2001 Ford SVT Lightning, unfortunatley I cant put a car seat in the front and need to get a 4 passanger vehicle, I still want a truck though so iam looking at the Chevy Silverado SS, I found this one that is near my home what do you guys think of it? The guy told me he would give me 17,000 for my truck! so I would only be paying $6,000.00, and my insurance would stay around the same!

I would look up your truck value on kbb.com, and the value of the truck your interested in, it will only give you an estimate of what each is worth, as for the red truck.....its too bland being only one color...I like the two tone trucks better.
