Here are some more information for Hhr Fuel:

After 4 years of research and development VMT Technologies has announced its new green transmission for hybrid SUVs, light and heavy trucks plus electric cars and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
VMT Technologies says its new "Universal Transmission" saves 30-percent in fuel costs over standard transmission and will also outperform CVT transmissions as well. According to the company, "the Universal Transmission is the first and only to function as a positively engaged, infinitely variable transmission with an engaged neutral. In addition, it eliminates the need for a clutch or torque converter."
Now, since electric cars and hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, thought to be the future of the automotive industry run on electric motors and not transmissions, VMT Technologies intends on competing in these sectors as well.
There are two technologies surrounding hydrogen. One is called a "hydrogen converter" which uses DC voltage to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. These gases are used as the fuel in internal combustion engines and many other energy applications.
The other hydrogen technology is called the; "hydrogen fuel cell". This uses hydrogen gas to produce electrons. Batteries also produce electrons. The use of electrons is described basically in two ways. The force pushing the electron "Volts" and how many electrons are passing a particular point "amps". If we compared electricity to water the volts would be pressure and the amps would be flow.
Like hydrogen cells, batteries produce electrons to use instead of gasoline or diesel. Electrons from "plug-in electricity" must be stored and then drawn as acceleration is required. Just like water in a tank there are only so many electrons available to take with you. That's why the number of electrons (amps) you use is so important. It's all a trade off.
One battery will provide enough voltage and amps to move a midsize car, just not very far. The further you want to go the more electron storage (batteries) you need to take with you. A good analogy would be; a battery is equal to a gallon of gas. The tradeoffs are; Cost (for the batteries or hydrogen tanks), Weight and range. Everyone wants low cost and weight and long range.
"An object at rest tends to stay at rest" and "an object in motion tends to stay in motion". The fact is, it takes more energy to get something moving than it does to keep it moving. Similarly, it takes more electrons (amps) for an electric motor to accelerate a car than it does to keep it going. Amps (number of electrons) melt things, explode things and kill people. To control this, a "controller" is needed.
The controller in the hybrid or the electric car has to manage the amps when a lot of them are needed. Therefore it has to be very robust to keep from melting and that becomes expensive.
VMT is advocating that it would be better to conserve the precious electron energy by using the mechanical advantage of VMT's IVT, especially when the transmission costs less than the controller. Another benefit comes from not needing as many amps; you don't need as many volts. A lower voltage battery is safer and less expensive.
So, the question comes: do you need both a controller and a transmission - no. As noted battery expert John Wyall notes, "As far as the difference between using a controller and using and IVT is concerned, the IVT is cheaper and safer than the controller. The IVT allows you to use fewer cells, thus making the battery a manageable system, and with lower voltage, a safer system. The controller-electric motor and gear box system has about the same overall efficiency as a controller-less electric drive with an IVT."

Gm of Canada Posts Best Saturn Sales in May
For May 2007, General Motors of Canada dealers delivered a total of 45,359 units, an increased of 2.2 percent over the same month last year.
“GM is pleased with our continued growth in May, driven primarily by strong retail sales, up 10.6 percent overall. Our Chevrolet and Pontiac divisions remain strong with growth in small cars and small utilities and the continued success of our new Oshawa-built Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups,” said Marc Comeau, GM of Canada’s vice-president of sales, service, and marketing.
Comeau added “But the real big news is Saturn - posting its best sales month in history. The momentum is building at Saturn retailers on the heels of introducing exciting new vehicles like the Saturn Outlook, award winning Saturn Aura sedan and Saturn Aura Green Line Hybrid.”
The Outlook, a premium mid-size crossover SUV which debuted at the New York International Auto Show (NAIAS), is based on the new GM Lambda platform. The vehicle features lowest sticker price among GM's Lambda crossover SUVs.
The Aura, a midsize car, debuted at the 2006 New York Auto Show in April, is equipped with a 252 horsepower 3.6 L V6, enhanced Saturn spark plug wire, and a new 6T70 six-speed automatic transmission. The Green Line versions, built at Kansas City, Kansas, Fairfax Assembly plant, flaunt the 2.4L Ecotec engine mated to an electric motor/generator and the 4T45-E four-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain is rated at 164 horsepower and 159 lbf·ft of torque. The Green Line has an EPA estimated fuel economy of 28 mpg city and 35 mpg highway, which the automaker claims is up to a 30 percent improvement over the Aura XE.
Overall sales of the Detroit-based automaker rose 10.6 percent for the month and 5.1 percent calendar year-to-date. Highlights include strong performance from small cars like the Chevrolet Aveo and the Pontiac Wave and the Pontiac Vibe, up 9.4 percent, 14.9 percent and 44.9 percent, respectively. Small utilities remain strong, with the Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent, Saturn Vue and the Chevrolet HHR up a combined 9.7 percent. The Saab and Cadillac divisions posted 59.5 percent and 7.8 percent gains, respectively.
The award winning Oshawa-built Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups continue to perform well. Combined, the product line reported 23 percent sales increase in May. Additionally, the GMC Acadia, Saturn Outlook and the Buick Enclave crossovers have had a solid start, leading GM to a 42.6 percent overall increase in mid-size utilities.
During the GM annual meeting, CEO Rick Wagoner said, “GM's positive retail sales and revenue growth trends reflect our focus on product excellence, which remains the most important element of our business strategy. Over the last 18 months, we've launched a number of great new cars and trucks such as our all-new midsize crossover GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave, and the Saturn Aura and Chevy Silverado, which were voted car and truck of the year, respectively, at the 2007 North American International Auto Show.”
“And going forward, we'll continue this steady cadence of great products... for example, this fall, we'll introduce two very important cars which have scored tremendously well in our consumer research... the next-generation Chevrolet Malibu family sedan and the Cadillac CTS luxury sedan,” he added. “Beyond this, last November at the Los Angeles Auto Show, we announced our intention to produce a plug-in version of the Saturn VUE Green Line hybrid, which has the potential to achieve double the fuel efficiency of any SUV on the road today.”

I'm a college student looking for a fuel economy car what would you suggest?
I tend to like the hatchbacks more because I have a lot of stuff to bring back and forth to school plus I snowboard I've looked at the Scions and I also looked at the pontiac vibe and chevy hhr and liked them all but i wanted to know if there was someting better out there or what people think of these cars?
i dont live on campus and i live in maine not like you can just bike unless im gonna bike like 30 miles to school and back and in the winter hah thats a joke so yes if i lived in a city and campus was cluttered together i wouldnt need a car but thanks
Honda Fit
the seats fold forward and flat for tons of storage.
Small minivan plans shrink
The recently eliminated Chevrolet Orlando was one of the most intriguing vehicles in GM's new-model program. Slightly longer than a Honda Civic, the seven-seat compact minivan promised highway fuel economy of around 30 m.p.g. and had breakthrough looks.
