How much does it cost to have piston rings replaced on a Ford Focus? Would it be cheaper to buy the rings myself (if this is possible) and just pay for labour or is it best just to let the garage to do their work?
Why would you just want to replace the piston rings? By the time the piston rings are worn out the bearings, valves and camshaft are also ready to be replaced or rebuilt. If you have a problem and someone told you that you need to replace the rings I'd suggest you take it some where else and get a second opinion. Before you have any major work done you should get several estimates for the job.
