When it comes to China and the auto market, one new development straight from China is the 2007 Changfeng Feibao CT5. This concept car, which is basically a 4x4 SUV style vehicle, was debuted at the recent 2007 Detroit Auto Show. Currently the Changfeng company calls themselves the top producer of SUVs in all of China, and this is their new idea when it comes to modern day SUVs. While Changfeng was definitely showing and introducing their new vehicles, this auto show in the United States was more than just a vehicle debut for them. More than that, it was actually an attempt by the company to break into the U.S. market and to become a global player when it comes to vehicle production.

The 2007 Changfeng Feibao CT5 appears to be an SUV that also sports a pickup bed wit it as well, along the same concept of the Chevy Avalanche or Cadillac Escalade, while it is a bit smaller than either of those examples. While this is still a concept car, it definitely appears as if this vehicle is still quite a ways away from production, with several interior problems that need a bit of work. The interior of the vehicle boasted shiny gray plastic, so it appears that at this point they are quite far from being anything close to a luxury car; however, they do seem to have some great ideas when it comes to developing a decent car for an economical price.

While the interior of the vehicle appears to need a bit of work yet before it will be ready for production, on the outside the 2007 Changfeng Feibao looks quite nice. It has a polished, curvy look that is sleek and chic, and gets rid of the boxy shape that so many SUVs still tend to have. The front end of the SUV/truck has a very appealing modern look as well, and the headlights also hold some modern appeal as well. When you take a look at the outside, more than likely you are going to be reminded of the Honda Ridgeline, since they look very similar in style. In fact, the two vehicles are almost the same size as well and they both have a cab and bed that are almost the same size.

The engine in the 2007 Changfeng Feibao CT5 appears to be a 3.0 liter V6 engine, which should product plenty of power for this truck/SUV. Rumor has it that the engine that is used is actually a Mistubishi engine. While this engine probably puts out quite a bit of power, with a vehicle of this size, one might wonder if the response will be as great as you would want in an SUV. After all, since it seats five people, you will have the vehicle weight, the weight of the passengers, as well as any cargo you may want to carry as well, which means that V6 engine may not be quite enough for the performance most people want. However, on the positive side, the 3.0 liter V6 engine should provide better fuel economy than many SUVs that have a V8 engine instead.

Although the quality of the 2007 Changfeng Feibao CT5 seems to be lacking a bit, many people seem to think that in the next few years this company is going to step it up and improve upon this concept car. In the past the Chinese have definitely done some quality work when it comes to vehicles, and in all likelihood they can do it again with this vehicle with a bit of work on their part. Not much is known about this vehicle so far; in fact, no price has even been quoted on the vehicle. If they continue to work on this vehicle and develop it, no doubt you will be hearing about this concept car again in the future, and hopefully they will take care of the problems and turn the concept into an affordable SUV that will be available world wide. Enterprise Steps Up Ffv Use

Enterprise Rent-A-Car Co., a privately held rental car company based in St. Louis, Missouri announced recently that they will be promoting the use of flex-fuel vehicles on their fleet. The initiative is a response to the growing call for the use of fuel efficient and environment friendly vehicles. This will also be benefiting the company since FFVs are more fuel efficient than conventional gasoline-powered vehicles.

Enterprise will be opening a branch in Washington, D.C which will be called the “E85/FlexFuel branch”. True to its name, the branch will be encouraging their customers to rent flex-fuel vehicles which have been manufactured by General Motors. These vehicles are designed to run on a combination of gasoline and bioethanol called E85. The said fuel is called such for it is composed of 85 percent bioethanol and 15 percent gasoline.

The car rental company will be partnering with the Detroit car manufacturer in promoting the use of flex-fuel vehicles. Due to the fact that bioethanol burns cleaner than gasoline, it is being promoted as a substitute to gasoline. Due to the corrosive nature of bioethanol though, it is not yet used in its pure form for vehicles in the United States. The fuel is also cheaper than gasoline in most regions in the country. This is because bioethanol is produced in the United States from domestically sourced raw materials.

The Washington branch of the car rental company is located within three miles of an E85 refilling station. According to the company, customers will be able to refill their vehicles in the said fuel refilling station. About 50 units of General Motors-made flex-fuel vehicles will be available to customers who are looking to rent an environment-friendly vehicle.

According to Enterprise, the flex-fuel vehicles will compose 50 percent of the total number of vehicles that they will be maintaining. The vehicles will be given to customers already filled with E85 fuel.

Today, General Motors produces flex fuel variants of existing nameplates. The Chevy Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, Impala, and the Monte Carlo are offered with flex-fuel engines. These vehicles are known for their General Motors look which can be accented by using Ventshade visors.

“In order for us to remain viable, we need to have ample access to cars and fuel, and both have to be sustainable,” said Pat Farrell, the spokesman for Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

The initiative in Washington is only the start for the company as it plans to open other E85/FlexFuel branches in different states across the country. The company is hoping to team up with E85 distributors, car manufacturers and the government in their effort to expand their promotion of flex-fuel vehicle use.

Enterprise is not the only car rental company to have started offering flex-fuel vehicles to their customers. Other car rental companies such as Hertz Global Holdings and Avis Budget Group have also announced that they will be offering more environment friendly vehicles in their car rental fleet.

Hertz announced that they will be offering more Toyota Prius units to their customers. According to the company, they will have at least 3,400 units of the Prius by next summer.

The initiative by Enterprise comes with the Big Three lobbying legislators to pass laws which will increase the number of refilling stations in the country that will offer E85. Currently, only a handful refilling stations are offering E85 which is forcing flex fuel vehicle owners to use pure gasoline.

I own a 2003 Avalanche and have made several trips to the dealers for multiple problems. My latest dilema is a soft knocking where the vent is by the floor on the passengers side. It happens only when the truck is on and when it comes to a stop and is not consistent. Any ideas?
